Birdwatching with Poe

two men are wandering (one in a wheelchair) through the city and over the downs. one is in a wheelchair, and carries binoculars and a notebook he writes in. the other is dressed in black 19th century morning suit, and has a black mustache and broad forehead. the happy looking guy with the binoculars points at a yellow bird in a hedge and says, "Goldfinch!" Poe says, "Raven." The first guy makes a note in his notebook as a bird flies overhead, and he says, "Purple martin!" Poe says, "Raven." The first guy looks up at a tree and says, "Bluejay!" Poe says "Raven." The first guy looks at a large black bird which is sitting on the grass watching them. the guy says "Raven!" Poe says, "crow."

crutch life

don't think i ever posted this one...so for the record: 



 

 

here's part of a public health poster i did for a clinic ten years ago.  suddenly i have a much better idea of how to draw canadian crutches....also, that going out in the rain with a cast is not advisable.  live and learn!

 

 
the Tero is the national bird of uruguay.  (not sure if that's official but they're quite common)
i believe it is also called the southern lapwing.  they're incredibly cute.
