Imperfect Patchwork

I began learning quilting and patchwork recently. I sew entirely with grandma's Singer Featherweight (or by hand).  I learn from the internet. I will never be as good as the wonderful teachers online, hence "Imperfect Patchwork" is my game.  It's fun, and uses up stuff that wouldn't otherwise be used. These pieces are made from scraps and leftover bits of my and other people's projects. Thanks to mom for teaching me to sew!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Have a seat!  Scraps from a handkerchief, a hat, a pair of pants.
sit here, my beloved.  a favorite blue flannel shirt, ancient blue sheets, old semi-white tea towel, and scraps from black pants all live on.

People with small hands need baking gloves that work for them!

xmas 2025 was the Year of the Reversible Bowl Cozy. My neighbor sent a photo of her stew!

that favorite old blue plaid flannel shirt is now part of a seat cover, a quilt, and a pillow! complete with buttons and a pocket.

I couldn't decide what color to make my first quilt, so one side is yellow, one side is blue.

Yellow side in the making
got a hole? no problem. patch 'er up.

my friend made a cartoon quilt and gave me the scraps. and there's a bit of old tea towel from a visit to Scotland many years ago. they love teatowels over there, and i love using old ones to make new stuff.

bowl cozies for valentine's day!
did i say they're reversible? i will say it again. they're reversible.
xmas-themed patchwork squares waiting politely to be made into bowl cozies.

you know what's wierd? i was preparing to make a valentine quilt and this stuff just DISAPPEARED. all these pink and red and purple panels i made...they're somewhere. waiting for some cosmic commission.
dolls. are they creepy? someone said they're creepy.  i don't know. i think they might be.

this is NOT my work here... far too geometrically perfect. i inherited them from Erinn, a truly gifted quilter, photographer, and bicyclist who had extra bits and bobs she no longer wanted or needed.  so whomp, into my imperfect patchwork they went.  see the top left corner of the blue pillow cover for example.
or the top right corner of the red pillow.

improv patchwork!
really cool invention since i first learned to sew. wonder clips!  at first i thought they were for the kitchen, and i used them to hold bread bags and cheese bags and they kept breaking.  Duh!  they're super for a pin-free experience. your fingers thank you.

when you get so excited that you can make a hat and finally you'll have a hat big enough to fit your big head, and you go overboard.
