Ok, folks. we're up to page four of the potato saga, Mr. and Mrs. Potatosack Go Cruising. The inking is up to page 20, so we have a lot of adventures to look forward to, and when that's over, we're back to the City Cartoons!

This one goes back a year and a bit. Patrisha is not a frequent character in my strip for perhaps obvious reasons. But HEATHER (hey there) was asking about her. Regular CITY strips are in the wings, getting ready to come back on stage... And in the meantime I'm still working hard on the upcoming adventure, Mr. & Mrs. Potatosack Go Cruising. Sure to be an action hit.

This week, Illustration Friday's topic is "opposites." I wasn't going to participate, since I didn't have a good illustration, and I have only recently returned from a rather long trip. While I was gone, the re-escalation of conflict began along the eastern edge of the Mediterranean. I am heartsick. I have family members who spent the last week in and out of the bomb shelter, and have now been forced to leave their homes, their towns. I guess they're the lucky ones for people living in that area. One of the first pieces of news I heard was that Sfat, the small "city of mystics" in the hills, had been bombed and evacuated. I have a photo of the cheese factory there. People who make ceramic lived there. People who hand-press pomegranate juice lived there. I drew a picture there.... so, in the hopes that soon Sfat - and the entire region - will again find its way out of war, I offer my drawing of the opposite: a peaceful town.

The Honeymoon: Formal Dinner

I heard about this unusual couple travelling with us - they were taking their honeymoon, and I managed to snap a couple photos of them. Can't quite identify where they're from. Click for clearer image. I don't know why it's frayed.

Meet Franicek, or, as he introduced himself, "Frank and Charlie." Franicek is a sommelier, and Charlie is his Tastevin. He is one (or two) smooth character.

No new cartoons per se until I get my feet back under me, but an occasional sketch from the trip. Here, seen outside the McDonald's of Gdenia (not far from Gdansk, Poland). Isn't the phrase "Pushing the pram" rather than pulling it?
